Your Creative nominated for two Victorian Premier’s Design Awards
22 November 2024
We truly believe in the transformative power of design to inspire, connect, and empower communities—it’s why we do what we do. This belief led to one of our most inspiring partnerships with Victorian Women’s Trust (VWT), who we often work with to build brands based on their projects. 2024 has been a busy year for them, and therefore, for us too.
Post our work on the Together Yes campaign for the 2023 referendum, we got started on a few more initiatives together to continue making change where we could. That work resulted in our two nominations at the 2024 Victorian Premier’s Design Awards under the Communication Design category for Rural Women Online and Rosie.
These nominations honour our important work with VWT, and we couldn’t be more proud of our partnership and impact.
About the Victorian Premier’s Design Awards
The Victorian Government started the awards in 1996 to highlight our state’s design talent. The awards celebrate the role of design in creating functional, safe, and efficient products, services, and spaces while elevating the value of professional designers and Victorian-led design.
With over 98,000 people employed in design-related roles, generating $6 billion annually and contributing $400 million in exports, our state is paving its path as a true design capital. We’re also the only Australian state to host a Premier’s Design Award!
Categories that invite nominations include Architectural Design, Communication Design, Design Strategy, Digital Design, Fashion Design, Product Design, Service Design, and Student Design.
The Communication Design category highlights projects that focus on clarity, connection, and audience engagement. These projects use creative communication strategies. From branding to wayfinding, this category underscores the importance of aligning visual elements with purpose and audience needs.
Our nominated projects
Rural Women Online
The Rural Women Online campaign is a vibrant, inclusive, and empowering initiative designed to connect women in rural Victoria with digital skills and resources. This is the second phase of our initiative with Rural Women Online and it aims to extend its impact by providing digital skills training to regional communities.
The campaign featured:
- A bold and engaging brand identity that resonated with diverse women across rural Victoria.
- A comprehensive communication strategy that included a photoshoot showcasing real women using technology, challenging stereotypes and redefining what “women using tech” looks like.
- Activation materials, event marketing, and a digital platform to foster community connection and skill-sharing.
In this project, we wanted to amplify voices in rural Victoria. We aimed to make a real impact by giving women the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
Rosie
Rosie is a harm-prevention initiative, co-designed to provide young women and non-binary people with a safe, supportive space to navigate life’s challenges. This digital platform goes beyond content delivery; it fosters community and connection while debunking societal taboos.
Key elements of the Rosie project include:
- A user-centred design approach, ensuring the platform meets the needs of its target audience.
- Clear, engaging visuals and messaging that empower users to explore sensitive topics in a safe and inclusive environment.
- Resources and tools tailored to young women and non-binary individuals, providing actionable guidance on navigating complex life situations.
Rosie demonstrates how good design can create spaces that make people feel seen, heard, and supported. Working together with our audience was important to maintain a strong connection to the mission at hand.
Looking ahead
While we didn’t get to take home a Best in Category award, as finalists, we are proud to be up there with Victoria’s best creative talents. Being amongst the winners was inspiring and we thank VWT for continually putting their trust in us with projects.
We’ve already launched yet another project together that we’re incredibly proud of: Madam Speaker, a digital archive platforming women’s vital contributions throughout history.
Here’s to many more awards as well as projects that collectively shape our future for the better.
